Artis College of Science and Technology
Artis College Research Opportunities Fund

The opportunity to participate in undergraduate research is critical to developing the next generation of scientists.

In the Artis College of Science and Technology, we pride ourselves on our ability to make these transformational opportunities available to Radford students, allowing them to stand out among their undergraduate peers at other institutions. Typically, these types of opportunities are not available until graduate school, but it is a hallmark of the Radford experience that our students begin much earlier than their peers.

We need YOUR help to grow and enhance this program.

Our goal is to create a vibrant research program where dozens of Radford University undergraduate students spend 8-12 weeks on campus during the summer. They will be mentored by dedicated faculty supervisors while fully devoted to research that can lead to a presentation at a national conference and/or publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Since many of our students rely on summer jobs to cover academic expenses for the upcoming year, they are unable to engage in summer research. With this in mind, we are striving to increase access to summer research for financially challenged students by offering a stipend supported by the Artis College Research Opportunities Fund. We want to make participation in research—the most valuable component of a Radford University science education—accessible to all students.

Please consider supporting the Artis College Research Opportunities Fund today, to allow our students to benefit in the following ways:

  • Gaining research experience and honing research skills
  • Establishing valuable connections to talented and dedicated faculty mentors
  • Making deeper connections to their area of study in new and innovative ways
  • Building their professional resumes and extending their body of work
  • Participating in the act of discovery

Thank you to the generous donors—Nancy Artis ’73, Mike DeFilippo ’90 and Steven Bachrach—who offered challenge dollars to help maximize the total amount of donors and dollars raised for this fund!
